Seminar:Mapping the Effectiveness of EU India Development Cooperation: Does it Lead to Policy Change? by Garima Mohan

EU India development co-operation has been a long standing pillar of exchange between the two actors and has evolved in shape and scope throughout the history of EU-India relations. This talk will look at ways of mapping the efficiency of this instrument of cooperation by asking the question if it induces any kind of policy change in India. Particularly in the sector of environment policy, where the EU is viewed as an actor with considerable ‘soft power’, what does India choose to borrow, adapt, or reject? This talk will give a broad overview of EU India development co-operation in general and focus on the environmental cooperation in particular, looking at examples of specific policies which the EU is promoting in India. This presentation is based on a PhD project, and extensive interviews done in New Delhi and Brussels.
