Chair: Prof. Dr. Idesbald Goddeeris, KU Leuven

Abstract:

India’s development assistance programme – officially termed as “development cooperation” in the spirit of South-South cooperation – has been in existence since the 1950s. The lecture will examine the philosophy, the main features and components, the objectives, and the geographical focus of Indian development assistance. It will discuss the key changes in the 2000s culminating in the establishment of the Development Partnership Administration in 2012 and conclude with reflections on the key challenges and prospects of Indian development cooperation.
