Lecture : 'India and East Asia’ by Prof. Dr. Rajendra Jain

Chair: Prof. Dr. Dimitri Vanoverbeke, KU Leuven

Ever since it launched its Look East Policy in 1992, there has been a steady growth in India’s bilateral (diplomatic, economic, political, and defence) relations and multilateral diplomatic interaction with East Asia. New Delhi’s relations with China in particular are characterized by the 4 Cs – cooperation, competition, conflict and containment. This lecture will examine and evaluate the vicissitudes of India’s relations with China, Japan and South Korea and its profile in the East Asia Summit (EAS).
